You're Lost In a Desert
With all that in mind the question is this — What is the one piece of information you need in order to get home? I'll tell you: you need to know where you are. Too many times in business, and in life, we get lost in the “what if’s” and “I don’t knows” and the daily madness that leaves us spinning out of control, lost and ineffective. But if we take the time to gain perspective of where we’re really at in that moment, it’s easy to make the proverbial decision to walk left or right to find home. Avoid getting caught up in the spinning world around you. Yes, you'll make a move, but first, quiet the noise around you, examine where you are literally and mentally, assess your real world options, and make a plan. So when it all hits you like a bull on the streets of Spain, just step back, take a deep breath, assess where you are and make your move. You have to know where you are before you know what direction to turn. Of course, a compass never hurts, either!

Whether for personal life events or business, this little analogy has always proven to be helpful in those strange and challenging times. Imagine you’re lost in a desert at night. None of the stars or constellations look familiar. You have no map, cell phone, food, water, or tools.
